Coulomb's Law Data Collection and Analysis (remote online learning) |
Description
|
This was used over a 4 week period with 9th graders; 1 hr online per week. I had it broken up into separate assignments, but combined it all into one document for this post. There are a couple of questions that ask students to relate content in this activity to other content they have studied this year (apparent magnitude and gravity in the context of the inverse square law; Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation equation); if you haven't studied these things, take those questions out. The highlighting is to color code data sets so they can math them up easily between document and spreadsheet (9th graders....)
You can change the values in Tables 1-3 to collect different force values or demonstrate how small vs large changes in charge affect force. I changed it up from class to class to reduce 'copying' of each other's work. |
